MICHAEL JACKSON’S LAW

by admin on July 17, 2009

SIGN PETITION NOW

Michael Jackson in concert in LA in 1988

As we all know at this time, Michael Jackson was recently given a deadly dose of a very powerful anesthetic called Propofol, which is typically thought to be reserved for use in hospital operating rooms. Michael Jackson’s Law would make it illegal for any drug intended for hospital or operating room use to be administered outside the premises of an actual hospital or dental surgeon’s office. It is an outrage that these drugs, and others like it, are NOT currently regulated by the DEA. At the present time, there is absolutely no regulation whatsoever of these anesthetic drugs which specifically outline exactly how, where and under what medical circumstances these powerful, addictive and incredibly deadly drugs should be administered to patients.   This would include a ban for any physician or dental surgeon to use such drugs at a patient’s private residence, as well as in other more public arenas such as hotel rooms, office buildings, etc.

In addition to creating regulatory laws regarding Propofol and similar medications, this law will also create a national database, specifically for pharmacist use, which would track all controlled substances/medications prescribed to an individual by all licensed physicians, nurse practitioners and dentists. Michael Jackson’s Law will stop unsuspecting future addicts from falling into this death trap and help the millions currently hooked and headed for tragedy. This is a national disaster of epic proportions and getting worse by the day.  As a country we desperately need such a database and as a society we are morally obligated to create and provide one. With your vote for Michael Jackson’s Law we can take one step closer to helping a lot of future unknowing victims and allow Michael Jackson’s legacy to heal the world even after his death.

Michael Jackson’s Law will create a system will allow pharmacists to alert doctors and patients of problems early on and go a long way towards warning patients of the dangers of the highly addictive medications they are taking BEFORE they become addicted in the first place. The relapse rate for drug abusers is 95%.  This means that only 5% of addicts who detox and “get off” the medication they are addicted to, stay off permanently. This shows the degree of the stranglehold that has become so impossible for most all to overcome alone.
